Finca El Ángel is located high in the Santa Ana volcano; land which is very commonly known for its unique cup quality and characteristics. It was acquired by Rafael Silva early in march of 2023. El Ángel is located on a very prestigious coffee producing area of the country. It is literally on a volcano in Santa Ana. Part of the farm overlooks the Santa Ana city and part of the farm overlooks the Coatepeque Lake. The climate here is very different to that of other farm locations in the country. The climate here is hotter and drier with huge ups and downs in temperature throughout the day. This, along with the volcanic soils rich in minerals, helps provide the cup profile with its unique quality and characteristics.

Finca El Ángel was awarded with two Cup of Excellence awards in 2024. 7th Place in the experimental coffees category and 2nd Place in the naturals category. Both awards were received with the SL-28 varietal.

Rafael Gerardo Silva is a 6th generation coffee producer from El Salvador whose been directly involved in the coffee industry since 2016 when he joined the family business. Rafael currently manages not only his farm, but the family mill operation. His family history dates back to 1870, when his great great grandfather first acquired a farm in El Salvador.

The Pacamara varietal was actually invented in a lab in El Salvador in the 1950’s. It is a mixture of the Brazilian Maragogype varietal and the Salvadoran Pacas varietal. The mixture of the two created a medium-sized tree, high in productivity, with big-sized coffee cherries and a high and complex cup profile. In this cup you will find strong spice notes, with a black tea flavor, citric acidity, caramel sweetness and a hint of vanilla.
